File Transfer Protocol, or FTP, represents one of the most widespread means for transmitting files between a PC and a server. Using FTP client software such as FileZilla, you can make a connection to your web hosting account and drag ‘n’ drop files or entire folders in either direction and the software will do the rest. There’re several pros of using File Transfer Protocol, among them the possibility to restart an upload/download when there’s some problem with the connection and the option to create different FTP accounts. With the latter option, you can set up FTP users that can connect only to certain folders in your web hosting account, but no other folders, e-mails or other info, which makes it the best option particularly if you have to provide a web designer with access, for example. You can also use an FTP account with popular applications such as Dreamweaver or FrontPage and upload the website content that you have created directly from them, without having to resort to 3rd-party software.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you host your Internet sites in a semi-dedicated server account, you’ll be able to create a different FTP account for any of them, as we haven’t set a limit on this service with any of our semi-dedicated plans. You can accomplish this via the FTP section of our intuitive Hepsia hosting Control Panel where you can also see the full list of all the accounts that you’ve set up, together with the folder that each one of them can access. If necessary, you will be able to modify the password for a specific account or to update its access path with a few clicks. You can also remove an account effortlessly if you don’t require it anymore – for instance, if you’ve hired a designer who is done with the site and you do not want them to be able to access your website files any longer. For your convenience, we’ve created different tutorial video clips, that will help you manage your FTP accounts with no effort in case you have never used a website hosting plan previously.

FTP Accounts in VPS

None of the VPS services that we are offering has a cap on the total number of FTP accounts that you can manage at any moment, so you can create an account for each Internet site hosted on your Virtual Private Server, irrespective of whether it’s under a domain or sub-domain. Furthermore, it doesn’t matter which hosting Control Panel you will pick when you register – cPanel, DirectAdmin or Hepsia, as an FTP server will be set up on your virtual machine during the configuration of any of them. If you want a number of users to be able to make a connection to the same directory using their very own sign-in details, for example, it’ll take a few clicks to create a separate FTP account for each of them. Removing an active account or modifying the directory that it can connect to is just as easy and you won’t have any complications, even if you don’t have prior experience in such matters.
